I am a graduate student in biological engineering and media arts and sciences at MIT. My strengths are explaining complex ideas clearly and simply, helping students with disabilities, and standardized test prep. I've helped students get into the University of Chicago, MIT, Stanford, Harvard, Yale, and UC Berkeley. I try to make tutoring a fun experience that results in great achievements.
I've had a lot of experience using math for practical and innovative applications. Thus, I can apply concepts to interesting real world examples that people actually care about. I tend to get very invested in students' success. I will work for you in my free time to help you achieve your goals. My son is a high school freshman. Josh tutor him in advance biology yesterday. Josh is very knowledgeable he did an amazing job explaining the lesson to him. I will definitely recommend Josh, and we will definitely use him again. Thank you, Josh!!!!
Josh was very helpful he gave me learning and exam techniques. He also helped me answer questions and explained information very well. Josh also helped me with memory skills. He was excellent !!!
First lesson was framed well. I plan on continuing to work with Josh. Having tried others I would consider trying him as well if I were you.
He helped me understand some concepts in ways that are relevant to me in order for me to understand for the test but also great anaologies and practical application. This has been hard for me to find in a tutor- I really appreciated it.
I needed help with PowerPoint and fast. Josh responded to me right away and he answered my questions thoroughly. I needed quick assistance the next day and Josh helped me and even typed out instructions. He will definitely be my go to when I need computer help again.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I've used Adobe InDesign to create several professional portfolios for applying to architecture firms/. I have a master of architecture from the University of Michigan, for which I had to take several portfolio composition classes, each of which was heavily focused on InDesign.
I have a master of architecture degree from the University of Michigan, and am currently a master's student at the MIT Media Lab, where I work under an architect to design experimental structures.
I have a master of architecture degree and have worked in four architecture firms, each of which required me to use AutoCAD to design and modify plans, sections, and elevations for building commissions.
In my master's program in architecture, I used Maya to 3D model, sculpt, and animate designs. I also used Maya in an internship at an architecture firm, for which I had to use Maya Molecule to model various structural deformations.
I have a certificate in data science from Johns Hopkins, in which I had to complete nine courses in R programming and related biostatistical applications, culminating in an independent project for which I had to conduct my own biostatistic analysis of what could happen if a population of 50,000 neurons experienced a concussion.
I am a Ph.D. student in biological engineering, so I've taken two differential equation classes in graduate school, and two in undergrad. I've also used differential equations to model bacterial growth in my own research, and continue to use differential equations in regular lab practice.
I have a master of architecture degree, so drawing is a big part of how I communicate. I am not an artist, but am extremely proficient in using drawing to clearly communicate ideas and brainstorm.
I have an undergraduate degree in film. I've filmed. edited, and even animated several films to document my architectural and scientific work, and have put together films for my current architectural design group in school. I use Final Cut Pro, Premier Pro, AfterEffects, Photoshop, Lightroom, and 3DS Max on a regular basis.
I'm a Ph.D. student in biological engineering at MIT. Genetic engineering of bacteria and mammalian cells is the largest component of what I do.
I have a master of architecture degree from the University of Michigan. I've had to use GIS to gather analytics and maps for various urban-scale projects. I have also used GIS to compose urban-scale diagrammatic maps for portfolios and posters.
I have a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and tested for my 1st and 2nd degrees in South Korea, at the Kukkiwon.
I've been a Windows user since high school. I use Windows every day in graduate school.
