Eastern Narazene College, Quincy MA (Biology)
I am a college graduate that is passionate about teaching youth. My major in college was biology, and I enjoyed learning the subject. I have taught a variety of ages in the charter school system. I found it extremely rewarding when a student gained confidence in what they learned and do well. My goal is to empower students to earn high marks and learn effectively. I was a Science Teacher during my year at a charter school within the elementary school system. I enjoyed teaching students about different aspects of science. I also tutored students often one on one during after school hours.
I believe what prepared me for the tutoring role was teaching nine to eleven year olds within my community as a volunteer. I started the youth program in the year 2008 and am presently still active. I find it extremely rewarding to work with youth, because I have seen many positive changes in their character and attitude.
I understand that students learn differently, so I use a variety of teaching methods each class session. Whether it's hands on laboratory work or illustrative technique, I always focus on maximizing the learning experience to benefit the student.
On my spare time I like to workout, read, and volunteer at my church. My parents are from Haiti. Although, I have never been to the island, I do speak creole fluently. My short term goal is to learn how to cook more Italian dishes, and my long term goal is to inspire youth through learning.
You are free to contact me for a session. I understand the life of a student is really busy so I will make every effort to work with your schedule. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I enjoyed learning Anatomy and Physiology in college and have also taken the laboratory course. My favorite part of the course was the hands on work which is how I learn best. I learned that repetition of reading the material was how to successfully earn good grades.
As a Christian, I believe my true calling is to teach the word of God. My educational background includes a rich history of learning the Bible in many courses taken at Eastern Nazarene College. Since the year 2008 I have taught a group of 9 to 11 year olds Sunday School, and am still presently active.

Grammar has always been important to me. I like to teach students proper grammar because it's a tool that they will always need throughout life. The interesting aspect about grammer is that you never stop learning correct ways to phrase sentences.
As an elementary school teacher, I learned to educate children on the pronunciation of words. I developed much patience to bring students to meet their phonics goals. I have enjoyed working with children in group settings and look forward to continue educating them.
I remember doing very well in my college psychology course. As a biology major, I found psychology enjoyable because of it being a social science. I like to learn how the brain works and the response of a person to a stimuli. It gave me an understanding of myself as a human being.

I have learned to be more effective when it comes to teaching vocabulary to young students and have seen tremendous progress in their performance.
