About Ed

I am currently working as a Writing Coach for College Solutions. Prior to that I was an English teacher at Austin Preparatory School where I taught AP composition, creative writing, and literature.

Before that, I was a Senior Lecturer at Curry College and Director of the First Year Seminar Program. At Curry I taught composition, creative writing, critical thinking, and literature.

I am the author of three books of poems, as well as numerous short stories and articles. My work has appeared in The Paris Review, Yankee, The North American Review, The Sun, The Christian Science Monitor, The Boston Globe, etc. My new book, Spy Pond, came out this year with Prolific Press.

I have expertise in teaching and writing both expository and creative writing. I have twenty years of experience playing softball. My team was the Division 1 Champs of Cape Cod Senior Softball 2015. I have taught all levels and have a flexible schedule.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Softball

I played softball for 15 years in an MIT league. Our team finished first every year except the last. Last summer I played for Cape Cod Senior Softball. Our team won the Division 1 Championship. I bat .500 and play both outfield and infield. I also coached Little League baseball and Babe Ruth. As a teacher, I am able to communicate skills like how to hit, and how to field.
