About Hank

Greetings - I have been an attorney for more than twenty six years and have been a mentor to students and adults with interests in English, writing, government, politics and the law. I served on the adjunct faculty of a college for 8 years teaching a variety of courses including business law, contracts, torts, criminal law, evidence, the U.S. judicial system and research and writing. I have been pleased to be selected as a peer mentor for both my undergraduate and law schools to assist students with career development. I have experience with writing, editing and proofreading having served as a lead articles editor.

Due to the nature of my business and expertise, I have been a frequent invited speaker to numerous trade organizations and I've given speeches to groups ranging from five people to a full house at a large performing arts center in Boston. I have experience in assisting students prepare and deliver speeches as well as learning substantive areas of business, history, English and law. I also have a proven successful track record of working with law students on their substantive law classes as well as working with bar exam students as they prepare for the bar exam in numerous states throughout the country.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bar Exam

I have been a practicing attorney since 1990. I am admitted to practice in the state and federal courts in Massachusetts. I have appeared in courts in states throughout the country. In addition, I served on the faculty of Quincy college in their paralegal and business program for eight years teaching a variety of legal and business related courses. Finally, I am frequently asked to be a featured speaker at legal, business and industry conferences.


Throughout my career, I have worked for three large international businesses. I've counseled all aspects of the business from Senior Management down to Individual Contributor. I've worked with the Finance, Marketing, Public Relations, Operations, Human Resources, Compliance and Legal departments for more than 25 years. I have a deep understanding of operational management as well as how to set and achieve goals. Finally as a manager, I have significant experience in goal-setting as well as motivational guidance, coaching and mentoring. Finally, with undergraduate degrees in economics and statistics, I've had both educational and hands-on experience in the business world.

Career Development

During my career, I have served as a peer mentor as well as a resource for both my undergraduate and graduate schools for students and alumni who are looking to change careers or get their first jobs. I have worked very closely with HR professionals and been part of a program to assist employees seek out new internal positions. I have also personally made some career shifts which has benefited me in having a firsthand knowledge base of career development.

College Counseling

Having two children who have recently applied to college, I have become a resident expert in the college application process. I understand how the process works, the importance of setting up short and long term schedules as well as what to look for in colleges prior to the application process. I have read numerous resources on the subject and have witnessed firsthand the results that a well thought out essay and application can bring to the college counseling experience.

Criminal Justice

I have been a practicing trial attorney for nearly 24 years. During my legal training and schooling, I was required to become proficient in all aspects of criminal law, criminal procedure and criminal justice. I serve as a mediator in District courts in Massachusetts and have taught college level courses on the American Legal System which included units on criminal justice.


I have experience teaching legal research and writing. As I was on Law Review for two years (and Lead Articles Editor) I have significant experience with grammar, punctuation, proofreading and writing in a concise and coherent manner.


As a practicing attorney and a former lead articles editor of a Law Review, I have a deep understanding for the proper use and application of grammar. I have experience with providing feedback on the proper grammar to be used on marketing literature as well as submitted written papers.


I have vast experience in negotiating, alternative dispute resolution, deposition taking and trial work. I am certified as a mediator and conciliator in the trial courts of Massachusetts. Finally, I have vast experience in public speaking.


Though my formal training is in law, I have been in a unique situation career-wise where I provide advice and assistance to the marketing and communications departments. I understand the subtleties of marketing, brand identity and management. In addition, I do all the marketing for a family member's two businesses including the selling, social media and liaising with external customers.

Political Science

In my current role, I handle the Government Relations/Affairs. As part of this role, I am involved in the political process with state and federal legislatures from the rulemaking process through to signing into law. I have also worked for two political campaigns. Finally, having been a lawyer for nearly 25 years, I have a unique understanding of the political process.


As a former lead articles editor, I have vast experience with proofreading as well as the proper use of grammar and punctuation.

Public Speaking

I have vast amounts of experience in public speaking throughout my career. I have given public speeches in venues as large as a full house theatre while delivering the student commencement speech during law school graduation. In addition, I have been asked to sit on panels and been an invited keynote speaker numerous times. I understand the importance of having an outline of subject matter in advance of delivering the address and have an acute awareness that not everyone prepares for a speech in an identical fashion. Finally, as a trial lawyer, I have great experience and confidence speaking in front of people.


I am a former research and writing adjunct college faculty member and have tutored countless students in English and writing subjects. I use grammar, both spoken and written in my job and and am a firm believer that since words matter, it is best to use the correct language.


As a former Lead Articles Editor of the law review, as well as having nearly ten years experience as an adjunct faculty member of a local college teaching research and writing, I have vast experience in the area of objective and subjective writing skills. Further, as a practicing attorney, I understand the importance of having clarity and persuasiveness in writings. I understand the the process of gathering information, synthesizing the materials, outlining what it is that needs to be conveyed and taking the steps to getting your thoughts into the written word.
