I am currently a licensed elementary and special education teacher. I work in Rockland as a special education teacher, working with students primarily in grades 1 and 2. I recently graduated from Wheelock College with a a degree in Language and Literacy, as a licensed reading specialist. My undergraduate degree is in Elementary/ Special Education. I have 4 years of teaching experience with children ranging from ages 4-12. I use researched based strategies to teach reading and my instruction is driven by baseline assessments and data. I use Wilson reading strategies and materials as well as hands on activities that I have created or purchased that focus on decoding, sight words, dictation and reading contextualized phrases and passages. I also use books that are reading recovery approved at the child's instructional reading level.
I live in Scituate, MA and would like to tutor around the area. I am willing to tutor in the most convenient location, whether that be the local library ect.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
