Saint Anselm College (Elementary Education)
I am a 4th grade teacher in elementary school in Lawrence, MA. This is my second year of teaching. Last year, I taught kindergarten. This is is quite a change but I feel it proves that I am comfortable with any grade level. I want to be a tutor because I see how many of my students would benefit from a tutor providing them with extra help outside of the classroom. I am very excited to have the opportunity to help students outside of the classroom.
Since I am an elementary school teacher, I can tutor any subject that a student needs support in. When I was in college, I tutored a student that was in my student teaching class. I was this students tutor for a full year. It was a very rewarding experience to see this student grow. I would love to have another opportunity to help a student grow their confidence to shine in the classroom.
I have been trained and have been endorsed in Massachusetts in teaching ELL students. Most of the training involved learning strategies for teaching vocabulary. I use these same strategies in my own classroom.
I am a 4th grade teacher and have to teacher every subject to all 20 of my students each day. I am very comfortable with all the elementary subject areas.
Teaching kindergarten allowed me to strengthen my phonics teaching skills. I am very familiar with strategies for teaching phonics to children. I previously tutored a student in phonics.
Social Studies is my favorite subject to teach! I think History needs to be exciting for students. It is my mission to make all of my students fall in love with learning Social Studies and understand the importance of it.
Please feel free to contact me to schedule a lesson at your convenience. :)

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
