I currently teach Criminal Justice courses including Statistics courses in addition to tutoring in math. My approach to teaching and tutoring is addressing individual needs and attempting to take the fear out of learning. This is especially true when dealing with statistics and/or math. I've found that many students come into statistics or math courses with a preconceived notion as to how they're going to do in the course based upon them simply "not being good at math." I currently teach Criminal Justice courses including Statistics courses in addition to tutoring in math. My approach to teaching and tutoring is addressing individual needs and attempting to take the fear out of learning. This is especially true when dealing with statistics and/or math. I've found that many students come into statistics or math courses with a preconceived notion as to how they're going to do in the course based upon them simply "not being good at math." My approach is to use a variety of current topics and examples that are interesting to students in order to ease their fears and demonstrate that it is simply a skill that needs to be practiced.

If you are looking for an individual that enjoys the teaching process and assisting others in getting to that A-HA moment than look no further. Sometimes one just simply needs to look/think outside of the box. By this I mean that the methods of doing the math/statistics problems don't change, you just need to learn them in an approach that interests/makes sense to you. Tutoring in my mind then isn't simply about doing problems, but tailoring the approach to each student's needs and interests in order for them to process the bigger picture.
