I have twenty years experience teaching in elementary and middle school. My educational background is undergraduate degrees in both Elementary Education and Communications, and a Master's degree in Technology in Education. My teaching philosophy is that students achieve academic success through humor, patience, teacher knowledge in the subject matter, connecting new information to a students experiential knowledge, and discovering the individual student's learning style and communicating the subject matter accordingly. Utilizing the input of the students parents, teachers, and my assessment of the students learning needs, I will put together a "toolbox" for the student in order to facilitate success in the subject matter that is challenging for them. I am very passionate about teaching and still get so excited when you see the "light bulb" go on for a child when concept understanding is achieved. On a more personal note, I am also the mom of a child who has learning challenges. I believe that this adds to my perspective and understanding of what is necessary to achieve academic success and sensitivity. I am fully aware of MA state curriculum standards. I have served on several committees and task forces to align town curriculum with MCAS standards. I am creative with my teaching approach because fun and learning can go hand in hand. I want your child to skip , not trudge, to our tutoring sessions!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
