Having spent close to a fifth of my adult life living and working in Latin America, and having married into a Mexican-American family, I have become fluent in Spanish and well-versed in the politics, music, arts, and history of Latin America.
I began teaching Spanish while still an undergraduate as a Teaching Assistant at Earlham College. I have created and led two service-learning projects for Wheelock undergraduates in Southern Mexico. I taught and led two, semester-long Spanish immersion programs for Earlham College in Central Mexico. I have tutored middle school and high school students in Spanish, and I teach Spanish to children and adults through music, conversation, and cooking each summer at a week-long Spanish Family Camp in Bradford NH. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
