GLASGOW SCHOOL OF ART (Master's)
I'm excited to share my many experiences of the arts with you. My expertise is in Painting and the Studio Arts, Art History, Art Theory, Digital Photography and Photoshop.
I have taught children to adults in formal and informal settings. I'm new to formalized tutoring but I've been sharing my love of art for all my life and I'm happy to share my knowledge and techniques with you.
My experience includes an undergraduate and graduate degree in art, specializing in painting. I have taken continuing education in digital photography, photoshop and printing at the International Center for Photography in NYC.
My commercial photographs have appeared in art catalogues and international magazines.
As an artist, I began in Michigan, went and lived in NYC for a decade showing my work frequently and lived overseas in Scotland
where I achieved my MFA in painting. I returned to the USA to Boston and have been building my art teaching career here. I have become certified by the state of Massachusetts to teach art for grades 6-12.
I expect to work with the student to develop a set of goals, and will always leave objectives to work on after the tutor time is finished.
Because of my in-depth experience of the arts, including art history and art theory I can provide the student a lot of flexibility in the content
of their arts training. I am just as excited to work with the beginner as the advanced because I love art and its many possibilities for each individual.
Be prepared to break boundaries.
I will make an effort to be flexible in scheduling week to week, but I maintain a 24-hour no cancellation policy and of course I offer make up dates!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I initially used Photoshop along with creative computer design programs as part of my bachelor's in fine art at Michigan State University. I continued my learning at the international center for photography in NYC in the continuing education department where I explored digital photography through courses taken in Photoshop. I learned beginner to advanced professional Photoshop techniques and digital printing processes. I have used these skills professionally in catalogue photo-retouching and color correction amongst other uses in my personal digital photography images. I have had images I have worked on in Photoshop published in magazines, museum catalogues and promotional posters.
I have a Bachelor's in Fine Art in Studio Art (Michigan State University) and a Master's in Fine Art in Painting (Glasgow School of Art). Both of these degrees included many courses in the history of art and specialty studies such as contemporary art, psychology in art, early American art and Japanese art. I have held positions in galleries that required knowledge of art including in-depth understanding of ancient art (Greek, Roman, Egyptian). Living 10 years in NYC, I acquired an extensive range of knowledge of the leading practitioners of contemporary art.
My qualifications include a Bachelor in Fine Art in Studio Art (Michigan State University) and a Masters in Fine Art in Painting (Glasgow School of Art). Both of these degrees involve a great deal of art theory and its related activity. I lived in NYC for 10 years, plus two years in Europe studying and practicing relevant art theory.
My qualifications include a Bachelors in Fine Art in Studio Art (Michigan State University) with a concentration in Painting and a Masters in Fine Art in Painting (Glasgow School of Fine Art). Drawing is necessary for painting, and I studied drawing extensively to complete my BFA. I have drawn from life including nude studies. I have had my work of drawing published in the Detroit Free Press when I was in my teens. Teaching children to adults in beginning painting this past year, I have had to communicate drawing techniques of space, perspective and line.
My qualifications for expertise in the field of painting include a Bachelors in Fine Art in Studio Art with a concentration in Painting (Michigan State University), as well as a Masters in Fine Art in Painting (Glasgow School of Art). I have show my work in galleries and museums; including solo shows in New York City and Glasgow, Scotland. I have been awarded scholarship at the Michigan State University based on the quality of my work, I was just recently awarded an artist's grant for the Vermont Studio Center for the quality of my work. I have been teaching adults and children in beginning painting for the past year in group settings (4-40 students).
