This work has consisted mostly of small group and one-on-one instruction across all core content areas, with a more concentrated focus in ELA, Math, and Music. Additionally, I have worked for the past 2 years as a coach for teens and young adults with Autism Spectrum Diagnoses to support with executive functioning related to independent living skills (budgeting, cooking, planning and attending social gatherings, fitness and nutrition, personal hygiene and living place maintenance).

I am Orton-Gillingham trained and have taught literacy to high school and middle school students for 8 years. I take a comprehensive approach to reading instruction that involves targeted support with decoding and fluency, while also building comprehension skills. My goal is to use your child's natural motivations and preferred interests to make reading more accessible.

I have worked for 2 years as a coach and mentor for individuals with Autism Spectrum Diagnoses and Aspergers to support them to develop strategies to increase executive functioning and success with independent living. My work with clients centers around planning, goal-setting, and reflection as well as a close look at the system of habits that may be supporting or inhibiting progress toward goals.

Composition (Music)

I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Music from Colby College where I specialized in music theory and music composition. I also have 2 years of experience as a high school music theory and composition teacher. My approach is to teach music theory and music composition in tandem where students learn a concept of music theory by composing music that implements the concept, and music composition is always informed by my students' literacy around music theory.
