I am currently a graduate student at Bridgewater State University enrolled in the M.Ed. Special Education, Moderate Disabilities, PreK-8 program. Through motivation and perseverance, I have attained a 4.0 GPA for all 31 credits earned to date. I approach my studies very seriously and my ethic will transcend to any student with whom I tutor.
I have completed my pre-practicum coursework at 2 local elementary schools under the direct supervision of a licensed special education teacher. These projects included development of lesson plans to incorporate multi-sensory techniques, with appropriate modifications, progress monitoring, and pre- and post- assessment measures. Other completed projects include development of Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plan; Assistive Technology Assessment; Educational Assessment inclusive of evaluation measures of standardized, informal, and formal assessments; written comprehensive evaluation reports and case studies; conducted quantitative and qualitative educationally based research studies. Other projects include development of comprehensive reading assessment and completion of a series of tutoring sessions using a variety of reading strategies.
As a graduate student volunteer, I have had the pleasure of working with elementary students under the direct supervision of a regular education teacher over a period of 1.5 years. In this volunteer capacity, I have provided individual and small group instructional support to students with and without exceptional learning needs during morning literacy and center activities several hours each week. I have also spent time assisting elementary students search the library database for a desired book and provided assistance locating the selection on the shelf. I collaboratively assisted other volunteers complete special projects assigned by the media specialist. Additionally, I have successfully passed two of the Massachusetts MTEL requirements: Communication and Literacy and Foundations of Reading. I have also been involved in Cub Scouts as a Den Leader and guided 5 Webelos to attain their highest honor of achievement, the Arrow of Light Award!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Under the supervision of a special education teacher, I have completed my pre-practicum fieldwork, which included development of lessons that incorporate hands-on, multi-sensory techniques, with appropriate modifications, progress monitoring and assessment measures. In addition, I have conducted formal observations; developed a Functional Behavioral Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plan; developed an Education Evaluation inclusive of informal and formal assessment measures; developed an Assistive Technology Assessment; written comprehensive evaluation reports and case studies; developed and carried out qualitative and quantitative educational research studies. I have also assisted students in the library narrow their selection on the database and find their selection in on the appropriate shelf. I have also I maintain a 4.0 G.P.A. for my 31 credits in my graduate program to date. I have been a Cub Scout Den Leader for the past 3 years and have helped 5 Webelos attain their highest honor of achievement, the Arrow of Light Award. The Cub Scout Program is educationally and enrichment based. I am a member of the Council for Exceptional Children and International Reading Association.
