Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

For 10 years I taught a course in the community that each year included up to 15 special needs students from ages 6-17, and included students with ADD/ADHD. I have also worked with ADD/ADHD challenged adults who were taking college courses; changing careers; or returning to school after a long hiatus. I am familiar with learning, studying, and test taking strategies for students with ADD/ADHD. I am also familiar with the process to identify and request accommodations for students to achieve success in the classroom, and other, settings.

I teach and mentor professionals in preparing and giving speeches. I lead a Communication, Outreach and Training Group. I prepare and present speeches to local, regional and national groups.

I have taught high school biology and have mentored science students, keeping them on track with classroom work, laboratory work, and report writing. My science programs have been recognized by three U.S. Presidents. I help students find internships and real life experience in the science field.
