About Matthew

Hello!

My name is Matthew and I am a certified educator teaching high school chemistry in the state of Massachusetts.

In college, I spent 3 years working as a teaching assistant within the general and organic chemistry lectures and laboratories, providing weekly supplemental instruction. I worked as a private tutor since my time as an undergraduate starting in 2009 and have continued to do so throughout my educational and professional career. I started teaching professionally in 2011 and have taught college prep, honors, and AP chemistry classes.

I specialize in organic chemistry, and have worked with students in general chemistry, math (alegebra, triginometry, calculus), physics and MCAT/GRE prep.

A general outline for a typical tutoring session.

Prior to session (1-2 days before)
1. Provide topics of interest
2. Student questions on topics prior to arrival
3. Calendar of relevant dates (i.e. exams, quizzes, etc...)

Session
1. Discussion of topics using relevant problems to drive understanding
2. Feedback from me and plans moving ahead

I hope I can be of service, and please reach out to me if you need a tutor.

Cheers.

Matthew

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
