Hello! My name is Shawna and I am so excited to be considered as your tutor! Over the past 6 years I have worked in many educational settings ranging from middle school special education, to middle/high school social emotional support setting, and currently I am a high school History/Psychology teacher. I love being able to work one-on-one with my students and believe that struggling students thrive when they trust their educator and are engaged in their learning through fun, varied, structured activities.
I have helped strengthen student skills in reading and writing both in my classroom and in after school programs. I love tutoring because it gives the student one-on-one attention to build not only their skill and knowledge base, but their confidence to continue their learning. The best part of tutoring is seeing the progress a student can make, as well as seeing the change in the student's self image and confidence.
My passion for reading, and writing, as well as experience in teaching these skills to students of many different age/ability level makes me an excellent person to tutor you (your child) in this subject area.
My extensive background/experience working with students of various developmental and social-emotional special needs has given me the skills to be an effective tutor/educator for students with special needs.
Please contact me to set up a meeting to see if we will be a good fit for working together on your academic needs! Hello! My name is Shawna and I am so excited to be considered as your tutor! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
