Hello, my name is Sean G. Thank you for visiting my profile here at Wyzant.com!

I am a seasoned tutor with over five years of combined teaching and tutoring experience. I have tutored 75+ hours on Wyzant, and I am well on my way to 100+ hours.

I first began tutoring back in high school, when one of my friends asked me to help him to prepare for the SAT. I helped him to raise his SAT score by 200+ points. I am a life-long learner, and I enjoy teaching just as much as I do learning.

My first paid tutoring experience was working at the College of the Holy Cross Calculus Workshop. The workshop is a one-on-one setting where students can ask for help on their homework problems and practice in preparation for tests and quizzes. I worked at the workshop for two years, during my sophomore and junior years at Holy Cross. In 2014, I earned my B.A. in Philosophy from Holy Cross, graduating Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa.

I then continued on to study Philosophy at the Graduate Level at USF Tampa. During my graduate studies, I worked as a Graduate Assistant and later as a Graduate Student Instructor. As a Graduate Instructor, I taught two semesters of "Critical Thinking," for which I designed the course syllabus myself. In May of 2017, I earned my Master's Degree in Philosophy, graduating with a 3.95/4.0 GPA.

My educational ideals are Socratic; I believe that teaching is not just about conveying information, but rather it is about relating to the student in a meaningful way. I am an experienced tutor in a variety of areas including Math, English, Foreign Languages and Test Prep.

For Mathematics, I am available to tutor your student in Calculus, Algebra, and Arithmetic and in preparation for tests and quizzes.

For English, I am available to tutor essay writing and editing. I am also an experienced Test Prep tutor. I am very familiar with test-taking strategies. I have had success on the ACT, SAT, and GRE.

I am also passionate about foreign languages. Specifically, I am able to help with Spanish. I studied Spanish for four years during high school and I often practice speaking it with friends.

I am located in the South Shore, but I am willing to travel. I am also available for online tutoring.
Please feel free to contact me with any inquiries. I look forward to hearing from you!
