I am presently a special needs teacher in a substantially separate classroom. This means I have my students pretty much all day except for inclusion lessons, lunch and recess and specialists. My students make a years progress both in math and ELA each year. I am very knowledgable in curriculum and have the ability to teach a concept using many different strategies.
I have previously taught for many years as well in regular education classrooms in grades 2 and 5. I have been privately tutoring for many years and enjoy seeing the progress my students make through out the years .
Presently I plan and teach reading in grade levels 2-4. I have also in a regular education classroom taught grade 5. I know the benchmarks that students need to achieve and each them through lessons in phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a bachelor's and master's in Elementary education grades K -8 and have taught for the past 26 years in this area.
I have taught severe special needs outside of the public school setting. In addition, I teach in a substantially separate learning center. I teach students who have reading and writing abolish ranging from grade 2-4 and math in grades 3-5. My students are taught in small groups using the same curriculum as those students in the regular education classroom. Each of my students have made a successful one year gain in all academic areas.
