I try to accommodate last-minute schedule changes. But if less than 24 hours' notice is given and another agreeable time cannot be found, I will assess a 1/2 hour fee.
This tutoring session with Paul was my daughter's last before her biology Regents Exam. She and Paul have been working together all of 2nd semester, 9th grade. Her test and quiz grades have followed an upward curve throughout the semester, and she is quite confident that the Regents test went well. This is very different from the way the year began. Paul is an excellent teacher. He is very clear in his explanations, making sure she understands before they move on. He is thorough, relaxed, good humored and very patient. His interactive approach ensures that a student participates actively in the learning experience. He understands the value of review across sessions, and he tailors his tutoring to the specific content and requirements of the course. I recommend Paul highly, and will continue to use his services.
With these tutoring sessions, I chose to focus on the math section of the SAT. I really enjoy the clarity of his explanations when reviewing the problems. Not only does he teach you the material, he also shows how to take the test such as how to properly write in answers on the designated math problems. Overall with the combined teaching of the math itself and the test taking skills, this will most certainly improve my SAT scores.
Paul has been tutoring my daughter in honors algebra I for about a month. I started seeing immediate improvement in her confidence and (dare I say) enjoyment of math, and her grade in the class jumped 6 points. Paul's teaching is clear and straightforward. He breaks problems down into logical steps that my daughter has found very helpful. I highly recommend him.
We are so happy to have found Paul as a tutor for our son! Paul has been very helpful in aiding our son who has been struggling through 8th grade math. We look forward to continuing to use him as his tutor as he enters into high school. Paul has been very patient and thorough. We highly recommend him to anyone!
I found Paul on WyzAnt in order to help me study for my upcoming final pre-calculus/trigonometry test. I was really worried because I couldn't identify my concerns and just wanted to have a teacher to review practically everything so along the way I could find what I was struggling on. I got the most comprehensive and high-quality review sessions that I could have ever imagined. Paul was incredibly patient and invested in making sure I understood absolutely everything. He even printed out diagrams and worksheets for my edification and brought his own class textbook for reference. His knowledge base and ability to work through problems in pre-calculus and trigonometry was incredible and greatly appreciated. His willingness to drive out to Great Barrington's library and to go so far as to reserve a study room demonstrated how much he cared and how dedicated he was to his profession and helping students understand these concepts. I highly recommend Paul to anyone and everyone who needs a tutor willing to push through the confusing fog that math can often induce and help find solutions and offer true and holistic understanding.
Paul was very helpful to our son who has trouble with math. He was patient and calm and showed our son a few handy tricks that made things easier. Highly recommend.
Paul is a GREAT tutor - highly competent, patient, positive and organized, as well as demanding (in the best sense of the word). He explains things well, moves at an appropriate pace and engages his students. He does not veer off the subject and is very efficient with his time (your money!!). He structures the material in a way that allows my daughter to go back and revisit his notes/math rules and formulas in one place. Pleasant and reliable, he is all around excellent.
I met Paul in the local public library. He had prepared a lesson based on my requests and was very clear and thorough, and also very personable. I would highly recommend him. For me, it was a great help to get up to speed with a topic that has eluded me until now.
Paul was a great tutor with an interest in helping his students. As always, it's best to specifically locate where you need help. Once we had established this, Paul was very patient and especially knowledgeable about statistics! Also warm and a great person to share a few hours with. Highly recommend.
Paul is always well prepared before coming to the lesson and also has good understanding of the subject matter. He is very flexible and tries to adjust the lesson time based on our needs. I would recommend Paul to others.
I am an MD, MPH student who came to Paul for help in a biostatistics class. I was very pleased with the help he provided me. He has a lot of experience and is very knowledgeable but more importantly he is a great teacher. He was diligent in making sure I understood the material, he explained things in multiple ways and broke down concepts to make them easily understandable. He even went out of his way to e-mail me supplemental material just as a bonus. Overall he is a great tutor and a great guy. I highly recommend working with Paul.
Paul has worked with my son for several sessions preparing for the SATS. My son has had very positive reviews for Paul and feels like he is learning and will be well prepared for his test. We would recommend Paul highly!
My son found him to be an excellent algebra-2/SAT Math teacher with a patient and systematic approach to solving problems. Actively involves the student every step of the way and has a few tricks up his sleeve to make difficult problems seem easier.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I earned a Master's degree in Biostatistics from Boston University in 1997, and spent about 10 years working as a pharmaceutical biostatistician for Merck, Genzyme and Tibotec (Johnson & Johnson). I have tutored Statistics at Berkshire Community College for the past 2 years, and would be happy to provide references upon request.
I studied Genetics as a Yale undergraduate in the fall of 1987 and at the University of Massachusetts (UMASS) Medical School in the fall of 1989, as well as Genetic Epidemiology at Boston University in the spring of 1997. In addition, I have worked in a number of genetics laboratories at Harvard Medical School (summer 1986), UMASS Medical School (1990-1991) and at the University of Pennsylvania (fall 1992). My parents are both geneticists, and have written award-winning textbooks in human genetics.
I studied Microbiology as a biology major at Yale (spring 1987), and at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (fall 1990). I also worked in the Vaccine Clinical Biostatistics department at Merck for over 4 years developing a number of vaccines.
I studied Pharmacology as a medical student at UMASS Medical School in Worcester, MA. Pharmacology is taught as part of the Biochemistry course during the first semester, which for me was the fall of 1989.
I taught two sections of Precalculus at St. Joseph High School in Pittsfield during the fall of 2014, and particularly enjoy teaching it.
I spent nearly a decade as a pharmaceutical biostatistician, mainly using SAS to conduct complex statistical analyses of clinical trial data.
I especially enjoy helping students prepare for SAT Math. It is an excellent opportunity to review a lot of useful material, and to learn some helpful tricks and shortcuts.
