I have over four years of experience tutoring with hundreds of hours of tutoring time. I have an excellent background in tutoring and the courses I cover, much of which I got when I studied Civil Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (Worcester, MA)

Although it is a small college of 1600 undergraduates it has a sterling reputation for math, science and engineering. Math and science courses at WPI built upon a strong foundation which started at Oakland Technical High School's Engineering Academy (Math, Descriptive Geometry, Physics, CAD) and Paideia Program (English, History, Government). Although I know that my skills have expanded since high-school, I note my experience there as over 3/4 of my tutees are of the highschool level with the rest usually being college or occasionally being at the middle-school level.

I have been taught and consider it true, that if I can't explain a subject then I don't truly understand it. This fact has led me to work with and help other students throughout my education and to this day. I also believe that visualizing a problem makes it easier to solve and gives a greater understanding of the subject whether it is a single line, a geometric problem or even advanced physics or engineering situations. I make an effort to provide multiple ways to understand a problem and to determine what is the best way for each student to learn.

I have a great deal of experience tutoring at many different levels. Starting when I was just tutoring for fun in high-school and college and I would tutor my friends in whatever classes we were taking or that I had taken. For the last four years I have privately tutored dozens of students for a total of over four hundred hours, including over a hundred on this site alone. In addition I also worked at a after-school tutoring company during a school year and then taught a summer course in geometry to the students there.

I am a knowledgeable and patient tutor who has helped numerous students past what they were stuck on and created a solid foundation for them to continue with. I believe I have helped my tutees in their studies which is attested to by my ratings and reviews.

I have worked with AutoCAD 2004 and 2007, and AutoCAD Architectural Desktop for a total of hundreds of hours; including a major project submitted to the CA State Fair in which I put in over a hundred hours of work. I first used AutoCAD in the Oakland Technical High Engineering Academy in a number of classes. Engineering Principles -To create mechanical drawings Descriptive Geometry Honors Program (HP) -To solve Geometry problems Advanced Architectural Drafting -To recreate, then design multiple buildings Physics Honors Program (HP) -To solve physics problems Although I only took one college course, "Fundamentals of Civil Engineering AutoCAD." I used AutoCAD in many of my courses, specifically Calculus 2-4, Physics Mechanics, Strength of Materials, and heavily used it in the class of Surveying.

Government & Politics

Government and politics are two of my passions. Ever since highschool I have had an interest in government and politics, especially how they relate to people. Although I enjoy knowing about our government I feel the need to spead that knowledge for I believe as Jefferson did that ". . . whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government; that, whenever things get so far wrong as to attract their notice, they may be relied on to set them right." Knowledgeable, able to relate with teenagers

Jared has been working with my son for about one month now. Since then, I have seen son's performance in AP Calculus AB steadily improve. He is more enthusiastic about math and finishes his homework a lot quicker than he used to prior to these tutoring sessions. Jared is more than qualified on the technical subject matter, but most importantly, he has been able to relate very quickly with my teenage son in a manner that prior instructors have had difficulties with. Based on the one month experience I have had with Jared, I would highly recommend him for High school math tutoring

Easy going and knowledgable.

Jared reviewed some material to make sure my son had the basics down before moving forward. He was very patient.

Very experienced, enthusiastic and effective.

Jared taught (my daughter) math concerning circle problems, including angles, arcs, sectors, tangents etc. He taught her quicker ways to solve problems, as well as some things she didn't even know she needed. His experience allowed him to quickly recognize the needs of my daughter and address them. He prepared my daughter for her upcoming 10th grade final math exam at a very competitive school. We are extremely happy with Jared.

Great Tutor!!

My son is learning AutoCad with Jared. My son really learns best working on a specific project of intense interest to him and learning as he goes, rather than learning via set lessons. Jared has been excellent at suiting his teaching to these specific needs of my son. He immediately adapted to to fit my son's learning style. I am happy to say that both the project and my son's learning of CAD are going on at a great rate, with enjoyment by all!! Great job, Jared, and many thanks from both father and son!!

The perfect tutor

Jared is a smart and understanding tutor. He is easy to reach and always on time. I find it easy to ask him questions about problems that confuse me and pay attention to the material he is explaining. -John DuBois (Zoe's son)
