Stonehill College (Education)
Hello! My name is Rose and I am a teacher with sixteen years of teaching experience working in Boston - area public and private elementary schools. I also have five years of background as a pre-school teacher in the area. I have much to offer as an instructor, including the ability to assess and monitor student learning; to teach specific strategies along with content to optimize learning, (especially in the development of reading, writing and math skills) and, as needed, to teach using a multi- sensory approach. I am currently available to tutor, as I have taken a sabbatical from the classroom to pursue a few additional, exciting interests and coursework! Although I am enjoying the change in routine from teaching full-time, I do miss working with the students, which I always enjoyed. The fulfillment which comes from helping a student to access his or her learning abilities and to feel confident moving forward in school, for me, is highly motivating, For this reason, I decided to pursue tutoring with Wyzant. I can't wait to begin!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a highly qualified MA teacher with current certificates in Elementary (grades 1-6) and Early Childhood (K-3, which is being updated to Pre-K-2 with Mod. Special Needs)
Prior to having taken the past 1.5 years off (Sabbatical) from teaching, I taught grade three for five years and grade four for two at an excellent public elementary school in Dover, MA. The (MA) Standards-based curriculum that I taught in Dover more than well-prepared my students to take the state test (MCAS, at the time), as it was based on the Common Core Guidelines. Before teaching in Dover, I taught third grade in Norwood, where again, the curriculum was aligned with the MA State Standards, and my students were well -prepared for the state test, The math training that I received in both school districts was excellent.
Currently certified Massachusetts teacher, grades K-6.
