About Kristi

Hi There!
My name is Kristi and I'd be glad to be you or your child's tutor! I'm a recent Master's graduate of the University of Cincinnati. I received my degree in Anthropology with a specific focus on environmental archaeology and human-environment interaction. I'm enthusiastic, hard-working, and dedicated to helping students and science enthusiasts of all ages understand and enjoy the various sub-fields of Anthropology. From beginner to intermediate level students, it is my sincerest hope to pass on a passion for science to others through teaching and to help students achieve their own academic goals.

As far as my experience, I am well-trained in archaeological field techniques and in qualitative and quantitative research. Over the years, I have gained experience in performing archaeological surveys and excavations, cataloging artifacts, data entry, and lecturing. I'm excited to put forth the same creativity and skills into creating a mini-syllabus that caters to each student's academic needs and goals. I'd be glad to discuss with you what your particular interests and study preferences are before beginning any sessions. I can provide sessions that include using PowerPoint, additional activities/exercises to enforce concepts, additional reading material if desired, and would be glad to look over and answer questions on class writing and reading assignments. I look forward to seeing you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Anthropology

I have obtained both my undergraduate and graduate degree in Anthropology with a strong focus in Archaeology. I have been on a number of archaeological excavations within the U.S. And internationally. I've had some experience presenting at national conferences and providing lectures to incoming visitors at previous jobs. I believe that the skills I have acquired over the years will help me have a great start to becoming a tutor for beginner to intermediate level students.

Archaeology

I have received a B.A. and M.A. in Anthropology. Within Anthropology there are a number of sub-disciplines. My focus during my college and graduate years has been in Archaeology. For my undergraduate degree, I completed their archaeological field school and 21 credits solely in archaeology classes. During my graduate career, I completed 41 credits in archaeology classes and research. Both my senior mini-thesis project and my graduate master's project focused on archaeology research. In addition, I have been involved in multiple archaeological field schools (SHP Archaeological Field Project with Bradford University at Pompeii, Italy & Ithaca College's Archaeological Field School in NY), volunteered at archaeological projects that required in and off the field experience (PIDPAZ Protohistorica di Zamora in Spain & PARP Archaeological excavation with Standford University in Pompeii, Italy), and have worked as a crew member on archaeological CRM field crews in and outside of the U.S. This includes my work with a CRM firm in both Kentucky and Pennsylvania. I have also presented my research at national conferences (SAA and NCAA) and have acted as an archaeological research assistant and lecturer for incoming museum visitors at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology. I would love to transition these skills to helping students succeed with their academic goals.
