B.A. Brandeis University (Fine Arts)
MA: The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (Graduate Coursework)
I earned my Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from Brandeis University, and I have worked as a substitute teacher and tutor for many years while my children were growing up.
My experiences ranges from the elementary grades through high school, and my specialty is working with Special Education students. I have been trained in the Orton-Gillingham method, and have a compassionate understanding in working with the special needs child. I have been a successful tutor in many subjects, however, my specialty is English language, grammar, and writing (journalism, fiction, prose and poetry).
My patience, creativity and understanding come through when I am working with students on a one-to-one setting. I find it very gratifying to help students achieve their goals in learning. I have raised two children of my own, and my love of helping students achieve academic excellence began with them.
My son is now in college at UVM and my daughter is preparing for her SATs in high school. I have a life long love of learning and that underlies my passion for teaching. I am always taking classes to further my own education, and I have plans to pursue a Master's degree in English literature.

Lily is a great tutor! She's very patient with my daughter and my daughter loves her. Her teaching techniques have helped my daughter improve in her reading and writing. Lily is very flexible and I highly recommend her to anyone with special needs or who struggles in reading or writing. Thank you!
My son choose Ms. Lily. He saw her photo and said "that is my tutor, I think she can help me. During his reading session, Ms. Lily, had no problem keeping my seven year old son engaged in reading and his lesson plan. He normally doesn't like reading because of his confidence level. But he stayed focused and did everything that she asked of him. Thank you.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
