About Michael

My name is Michael B. I am an English teacher at Haverhill High School in Haverhill, MA and a Composition professor at ITT Tech. I previously taught English at the high school level in Fall River, MA at Resiliency Preparatory School, in Milford, MA at Milford High School and in North Attleboro, MA at North Attleboro High School. I've also taught writing at the graduate level at the Stonecoast Program at the University of Southern Maine. I have tutored students, ages 7-16, at the 826 Boston program in Roxbury, MA and currently teach students ages 14-18 in English.

I find that English, both reading and writing, is much more accessible if presented in a fun way. I love to joke with students, relate material to popular culture and adolescence, and generally have fun with the process. Being in my late twenties, I find it easy to relate to students in an effortless, colloquial way and get a positive response in the process. At the same time, I am well schooled, having both a Masters of Education in English and a Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. The combination of both my education and approach to learning can make for a successful tutoring relationship.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Very Patient — Michael is extremely knowledgeable about literature and writing skills. He is able to work with students of all abilities but more importantly has the patience and kindness to work with students that are truly struggling. My son felt comfortable with Michael immediately and looks forward to his sessions. I highly recommend Michael as a highly professional tutor. ...
