About Danielle

I am a very passionate, professional and effective tutor and parent who has worked in various fields for over 15 years, including Neuro-psychology, medical research, and international relations. Tutoring has always seemed natural to me and my students have often returned to me saying how "helpful," "kind," "approachable," "resourceful," and "organized " I was.

I started tutoring college students when I was a graduate student then, gradually, became interested in working with younger children and took many workshops and courses geared towards teaching both primary and secondary-level students. I, also, worked for SAT and ACT prep. companies as many of my students were in the midst of preparing for college and needed my help. Today, my focus is on Romance Languages, reading comprehension and writing, mathematics through Algebra, Biology and Chemistry, subjects I have also taught in private schools.

It has been 15+ years since I started tutoring and I continue to grow and learn from my students and often have more students than time to teach, but I try to accommodate every student I feel I can effectively help, whether their goal is to improve their grade, learn more than what is offered in the classroom or prepare for a standardized test.

I am very patient and approachable and I prefer to work with students who can make a weekly commitment in order to benefit from the tutoring process.

I meet students in my work office, a library or your home.

Thank you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

College Counseling

I worked as a college counselor at Smith College for several years and then started working, privately, with students who needed help with long-range planning for college. This includes choosing appropriate courses, evaluating grades, 3 times a year, building vocabulary and writing skills, tutoring in subjects where students have difficulty with concepts or skills and, finally, preparing for The SAT or ACT and writing a college essay.

Common Core

I have been teaching young children to improve their reading comprehension and writing skills as well as arithmetic, basic science, organizational and study skills for over 9 years and worked with children with a variety of learning styles and challenges. I teach privately and in a small group-format.
At Harvard University, I have been studying and engaging in research on how children learn and how to adapt teaching methods to the individual.

I am very dedicated to the writing process and am very patient, attentive and resourceful with my students.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been teaching young children to improve their reading comprehension and writing skills for over 12 years and worked with both disadvantaged students and those in private school, either privately or in a small group-format.
At Harvard University, I have been studying and engaging in research on how children learn and how to adapt teaching methods to the individual.

I am very dedicated to the writing process and am very patient, attentive and resourceful with my students.

ISEE

I have worked in private school admissions and have prepared students to excel at The ISEE and The SSAT for 9 years and all my students have improved their scores, significantly.

I have worked with The ISEE and The SSAT, intimately, and have developed my own strategies for approaching these tests with a sense of understanding, mastery, control and, as importantly, calm and focus.

My students have been accepted at some of the following schools: Meadowbrook, Rivers, Brooks, Phillips' Andover, Austin Prep, The Fay School, etc.
