About Sarah

I have been an educator for 24 years, both in the classroom and as a tutor. I taught in the Boston area early in my career, then in Jerusalem and, for many years, in a private school in New York City. I have worked mostly with students in 9th, 11th and 12th grades, and have created and taught courses that cover the history of Europe, the United States and World Cultures. I have also designed and taught seminar-style courses on Eastern Religions, Twentieth Century Revolutions, the Holocaust, and Israeli and Palestinian history and politics. I have also created and led writing seminars for students of all ages.

I am available most afternoons and some evenings with advance notice.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
