I have been teaching Math and Science for over four years, first as a private tutor at Cornell University and now in Boston.
I graduated from Cornell University with a major in Biology and afterward worked at the California Institute of Technology full time doing biology research before returning here to Newton before Medical School. I specialize in Math and Science up to the college level, particularly in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and math up to college level calculus (this includes Algebra, Trigonometry, and Geometry).
Having taught from positions as an instructor and study group leader and tutor, I have gained a wealth of experience and understanding of what makes a good teacher, a good teacher. In advanced of my first lesson, I ask for what specific topics the student would like to work on, and what they have been having trouble on and their goals for the next semester/term, in addition to their syllabus and our schedule for the year. This way, I can be as useful as possible to you and most importantly, as prepared as possible.
Then during the first few lessons, I find out how my student learns best so I can cater to their study habits and kind of thinking. Every student studies and learns a little differently and for me that is what makes teaching and tutoring fun and exciting and also what makes each lesson better than the next as I get to know my students better.
I look forward to hearing from you! I have been teaching Math and Science for over four years, first as a private tutor at Cornell University and now in Boston.

I came to Kevin for help with college level Introductory Chemistry. This is my first experience using a private tutor and I could not be happier. Kevin is professional, kind and extremely patient. He is knowledgeable, prompt and comes prepared to each session. He completely takes the intimidation factor out of chemistry (and math) by breaking down each equation while thoroughly explaining to make sure you understand every step of the way. I have already taken my first exam and received an A. I highly recommended Kevin to other students in my class and will continue to work with him throughout my academic career.
Kevin tutored my two students.
Matt said "Kevin had the great pleasure of helping my brain learn something about how to find an equation from sequences of series. So unfortunate that my brain could have learned a lot sooner but so sad, my Algebra 2 teacher never seems to organize her methods of teaching or how to properly use a time span of 55 minutes."
Mel said "Kevin helped me get a a better understanding on the topics that I did not understand in my AP Biology class such as linked genes and the difference between incomplete dominance and co dominance. Hopefully, I am able to get a better grade on my tests with his help."
My son liked his session. He said Kevin is not like a regular scientist. Easy to talk to and understand. We needed an emergency session before my son's test.
Kevin contacted with us within 30 mins and scheduled the same day.
Kevin was awesome w/my daughter. He was patient and thoroughly explained things to her. She felt a sense of relief and confidence after her turoring session w/Kevin in Chemistry. We are definitely going to make sure to use him on a weekly basis. Thanks Kevin!
My daughter was struggling with her math. After the lessons, she felt that she understood the material. I hardly ever get to see such a happy teen.
He is always prepared for the lessons ahead of time, and is very knowledgeable of the subject he teaches. He is also very patient, and always makes sure you understand the material well.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have over four years experience tutoring in Algebra I and II, having taken it first in high school and then taught it thereafter.
