I am a caring, patient and energetic tutor who has over 20 years of experience in English Language tutoring. I incorporate humor into my sessions whether it be improving skills in grammar, literature, vocabulary, spelling, and writing. Learning can be fun, challenging and exciting! I have a Master's degree in Education/Counseling.
Most of my students are in grades K through 8, however, I welcome adults who want to improve or refresh their language skills. I create lessons to match a student's academic needs and pace of learning. In many of my tutoring sessions, I work along with the student's classroom curriculum and homework assignments. For other students, I bring my own worksheets and learning resources to provide the student with that EXTRA edge on maintaining a good classroom standing or even going ahead with the progression of the English subject matter being taught.
So, if you would like to achieve a higher level of expertise in mastering English including grammar, vocabulary building, spelling, and writing, please contact me. I assure you it will be fun, you will work hard, and you will communicate better with your family, friends, teachers and everybody you come into contact with. If a student forgets about the session, he/she will be exempt from having to pay one time. If the student should forget more than one time, a half session fee will be charged.
I have tutoring experience in the Common Core Language subjects including the Conventions of Standard English and Vocabulary Use. Most of my students were at the Elementary School level, some more advanced than others, even within the same grade. I used students' writing as a tool to integrate grammar practice.
The lessons ranged from practice assessments with relative pronouns and adverbs, past, present and future progressive tenses, prepositional phrases, sentence construction, use of correct capitalization, the choice of words and phrases to convey ideas precisely, proper acquisition of vocabulary usage, proper grammar and the usage of formal and informal English.
Students were encouraged to develop their own examples of each of the practice assessments.
I am currently working with students in the elementary grades, some of whom are engaged in learning various styles of writing, using correct punctuation and grammar and also providing the student with challenging exercises in spelling and vocabulary. Improving one's knowledge of the correct usage of words is a great way to be successful in life's adventures!!
I have been tutoring language arts, proofreading and writing for several years and have the highest scores ranked by my students on Wyzant.
