I have more than twenty-five years of experience teaching writing and English at Ivy League schools, including Harvard, where I won an award for excellence in teaching. I spent many years directing and training writing tutors and developing innovative tutoring programs. I am also the author of an award winning novel and have published fiction in The New Yorker.
As a former member of the Board of Admissions at a highly selective college, I offer exceptional expertise to students writing college and graduate school application essays. My knowledge of the college admissions process and many years as a writing teacher can provide students with a powerful advantage in writing the best possible application essay—an essay that can mean the difference between a “maybe” and a “yes.”

I was a Fulbright Professor of English at a Chinese University and have helped many Chinese high school students with their personal statements a writing consultant for Chinese Educational Consulting companies.

For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
