My passion for helping students succeed has come from my love to learn, and exceed the standards of education. I am currently enrolled in college, but I am still capable of helping students of all ages. I was in the National Junior Honor Society, and was awarded the Martin Luther King Jr. award for two consecutive years. The Martin Luther King Jr. award showed exceptional work, leadership, and commitment. I am committed to helping the student/your child learn and/or improve their grades. When I was in middle/high school the lessons were taught differently than they are being taught today. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I have found more younger students having difficulty with the main academic subjects. Due to this, I have helped many younger students understand they key concepts of these subjects by using the older methods that was used with me. Even though I use the older methods, I don't have to. I have more than one way to teach the same lesson.
I volunteered at the Boys and Girls club for a year. While I was there, I mainly tutored elementary and middle school students. I helped them with reading, spelling, math, and sentence structure/writing. This volunteer experience required both patience and commitment to the student. I have both of these qualities, and many more.
Math can be complicated for some people. That is why I have striven to learn different options/ways to solve the problem in hopes that at least one way sticks with the student. I will also teach the student how to solve problems they have not seen by what they know/learned. This will prepare them for future more advanced mathematics courses/classes.
I hope to hear from you, so I can help teach and improve your grades! Feel free to email me if you have any questions. I charge $20/hour for elementary/middle school students. I can lower the price if you schedule a min. of 10 hours/week. I offer a free 1st lesson.
I learned chess at age 5, and continued to practice and learn more strategies. I have taught about 10 people how to play chess with no prior experience. I have taught others how to strategize to be able to win a match. I also am able to teach in a way that nobody else is able to because I think logically.
I have tutored over 50 elementary students while I was volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club. I tutored these students in: Math, Spelling, Writing, Handwriting (cursive), science, and many more. I was able to teach the students in a way that they understood.
I was taught cursive (Handwriting) in elementary school, and continued to practice it throughout middle and high school. I am now in college, and all my papers are handwritten (cursive) unless it has to be typed. I know every cursive letter (both uppercase and lowercase), and I have taught students how to handwrite. I have been able to teach students how to handwrite even if they have no prior knowledge of cursive.
I have helped over twenty students (elementary and middle school ages) study for tests in many subjects. Some of the subjects I helped students in are: English (spelling), English (essays), multiplication tables, pre-algebra, algebra I, geometry, and many more. Most of the students I have helped were C and D average students. After my tutoring, they were at least a grade higher than before.
