For the past ten years, I have had significant experience working with preschool, elementary, as well as middle and high school school students with and without moderate to severe special needs- ranging from students who have emotional and behavioral difficulties, specific learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism and brain injuries. These experiences enabled me to assist students in their daily living skills, social skills and included running and teaching academic and recreational groups to students in a variety of settings. I have been challenged as a professional to be consistent, flexible, creative, and patient while working with teams of people- including family members, counselors and specialists. Additionally, I have worked at the Federal Furnace Elementary School in the past as a part-time Teacher Assistant in the ASD Program, Handikids Camp program in Bridgewater, MA and interned at the Department of Social Services in Brockton, MA as an undergraduate. I would welcome the opportunity for an interview and look forward to hearing from you.

I enjoy teaching the foundationial skills in reading and use a hands-on, visual program to help implement the core skills, with repetition, consistency and patience. I believe every child is capable of learning, at their own rate, pace and style that works best for them, to help reach their highest potential.

Special Needs

For the past 10 years, I have had the privilege of working with students ages 2 to 22 in both private and public settings. Currently, I work as a Lead Preschool Teacher at a NAEYC accredited school servicing children with varying socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. The classroom consists of up to 20 students ages three to five with some students on Individualized Education Programs. My responsibilities include creating and implementing a developmentally appropriate program, based on the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold. My background is in Special Education and Fine Arts. I am MA DESE certified in Moderate Disabilities, pre-k- 8 and 5-12, as well as EEC certified as a Lead Preschool Teacher and Director I, II. I have had the opportunity to work with children with varying needs and backgrounds, including emotional/behavioral, autism, specific learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, visual and auditory impairment. Through these experiences, I have had the benefit of being able to differentiate instruction based on the specific needs of each student and promote their creativity, independence and individual strengths.
