I am a college essay and application tutor with real-world admission experience and a strong writing background. I graduated from Dickinson College with a B.A. in Sociology after completing a thesis and the corresponding presentation during my senior year. I then spent more than a year working as an Admission Officer for a private college; my primary territory spanned the majority of New England. During my time as an Admission Officer, I read hundreds of Common Application responses and essays, and became extremely familiar with the mysteries of class selection and creation. I am a dedicated volunteer for the Dickinson College Admission Office and enjoy representing my school at college fairs and receptions. I am a full-time graduate student in Human Factors in Information Design, and work part time as a departmental assistant at the Bentley University User Experience Center and as a copywriter and website strategist for a local agency.

Why am I interested in coaching current applicants through the process? Simply put, I loved everything about my journey through the Common App, campus visits, and admission tours. I recently helped my youngest brother complete his college searches and applications, and I was so incredibly proud when he was accepted to his top choice university. I love using my own personal and professional experiences to help students make their way through the college process and, ultimately, be able to confidently submit a solid application to the school, or schools, of their choice. College essays should tell the student's story, and I want to be able to help them find their voice.

I hope to hear from you soon!

Note: I am more than happy to share my thoughts and opinions on college choices with students, but I am not a college guidance counselor. My role is in helping the student to complete the application process; I always recommend that students work with their high school's guidance counselors to maneuver through the decision-making end of the process.

Public Speaking

I competed on Milton Academy's Speech and Debate team for four years in high school, and won awards in many local and national competitions. As part of the Speech and Debate team, I was selected to represent Massachusetts in Duo Interpretation at the National Championships in Nevada, and in Dramatic Interpretation at the Catholic National Championships in Wisconsin. During my four years as a student at Dickinson, I acted in seven shows in primarily lead or supporting roles, in addition to taking acting and public speaking classes. As part of my thesis project during my senior year, I presented my research in front of my peers and the Dickinson College Sociology Department.

I currently work part-time (and have previously worked full-time) as a professional copywriter for a marketing and design agency. All of our output needs to be thoroughly proofread, and each tiny error needs to be caught—that's often my job! Additionally, I'm a full-time graduate student in a writing-intensive set of courses, so I'm skilled at reading through high-volume copy to find any errors, omissions, or opportunities for improvement.

I have always been passionate about cultivating writing as a skill, and I love sharing that passion with others. I currently work part-time (and have previously worked full-time) as a professional copywriter for a marketing and design agency. All of our output needs to be expertly executed and meticulously proofread, both of which are my job. Additionally, I'm a full-time graduate student in a writing-intensive set of courses, so understanding the structure and nuance of a strong essay is something I've learned.

I worked as an admission officer at Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA for fourteen months immediately after graduating from Dickinson College. During this time, my duties included traveling and representing the College at fairs and high school visits, interviewing student candidates and delivering family information sessions, reading and analyzing applications from all over the country, and assisting in the awarding of scholarships to qualified applicants. On a more personal level, I spent part of the last year assisting my youngest brother in his college application process; he was accepted at his top choice university as an early decision candidate. Currently, I represent Dickinson College to potential applicants from my high school, Milton Academy.

Fantastic College Essay Specialist

Megan was such an amazing tutor who helped me with the composition of two different college essays from scratch: the common application and a supplemental essay. She helped me find that "inner voice" which college counselors focus on in order to discover my true personal voice. Megan is kind, professional, and very personable. She forms instant connections and guided me through the entire writing process, from selection of topic, to, topic development, and lastly, multiple rewrites through detailed editing. She came to our home and was so considerate about my demanding senior year commitments during scheduling. Her rate is so reasonable for what she's done for me. The depth of her genuine concern that my essay be the very best it could be was truly refreshing and greatly appreciated. We were so lucky to find her, and would recommend her without reservation. My parents feel the very same way, and we have already told numerous friends about her.
