I am a recently retired Engineering Manager. While I have no formal teaching education and experience, my positions as a Software Engineering Lead and Manager provided plenty of opportunities to train and teach less-experienced co-workers. My retirement has given me time to reflect on my past work and indeed these teaching opportunities were the most satisfying of my career. Tutoring math has allowed me to capitalize on those opportunities and working with students has provided a new level of professional satisfaction.

My son had a math tutor through Wyzant for Algebra many years ago and I was impressed with her ability to connect with my son and give him the one-on-one attention that he needed. The tutor had math skills to be sure but it was her patience and calm that made the sessions meaningful. And it was clear, she was reaping personal satisfaction from my son's success as well. I believe I have the same qualities as the tutor and now that I have the time, I am trying to help families the way our tutor helped us.

Albeit many years ago, I had straight A's for all of my college math courses, which took me through Calculus III. In addition, I had A's and B's for all my engineering and science courses (Physics I-IV, Chemistry, Materials Science, etc.) and all of these were math intensive.

If you would like to learn more about me, my capabilities and limitations, please contact me. I am very eager to continue my tutoring career and promise to bring the same commitment that I brought to my prior Engineering career.
