College of the Holy Cross (Sociology)
I am a 24 year old college graduate from College of the Holy Cross, Class of 2013. In high school, from 2005-2009, I tutored elementary and middle school students. Moving on to college, I continued tutoring students in all subjects for grades 1-12. I have tutored all subjects, including Math, Reading/Writing (ELA), Science, History, Physics, etc. Over the last 2 years, I have tutored/mentored high school students in Boston and Lawrence. I love working with youth and helping them grasp concepts and build strong study habits! I currently teach Algebra 1, and I am available after school to help students build their confidence in any subject matter. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently an Algebra 1 Teacher for this 2015-2016 school year. I have 6 years of experience tutoring in this subject. I love the subject, and have fun helping others learn it. I like to use real-world situations to best relate the content of the material to the student.
I am a math teacher, and use computers daily for not only lessons, but to log data as well. I have been using computers since middle school. I would say I am very knowledgeable when it comes to using computers.
I am an Algebra 1 Teacher. I use Microsoft Word daily, and have been using it since middle school. I love being creative while using it, and would love to help anyone else get the hang of being creative with it as well!
I am an Algebra 1 Teacher. Pre-algebra is a stepping stone leading into Algebra 1. I always use Pre-algebra during many activities to help refresh those skills for my Algebra 1 students. Pre-algebra can be fun when related to real-world situations, so I use that as a strategy while teaching it.
I graduated from College of the Holy Cross. While I went to school there, I worked as an Academic Peer Tutor in the Writing Center. I did the following things: proofread papers, help brainstorm, organize thoughts and paragraphs, and gave constructed feedback. I love writing, and would love to help anyone in this area as well.
I went to College of the Holy Cross and majored in Sociology. I have taken over 16 Sociology courses. I have tutored peers in college in Sociology, and love the subject matter immensely. I also have many books/notes in this field, and would love to help anyone I can in studying for any given subarea of Sociology.
