About Harsh

I am an experienced Software Developer/Engineer with a passion for Web Technologies and Math.

My primary strengths are front-end web technologies - HTML, JavaScript, CSS. I also have extensive experience building mobile-ready web applications using responsive design techniques like Bootstrap, CSS3 Media Queries, HTML5, etc. I strongly believe that a "mobile-first" mindset is a MUST for all aspiring web developers out there!

Education:
BS in Computer Engineering from RIT
MS in Computer Science from Boston University

I also enjoy teaching Math. I've always been fascinated by how you could get to an answer for a particular question in so many different ways! Therefore, I enjoy walking through the thought process and focusing more on understanding the problem rather than the solution itself. This is so crucial in developing those problem solving techniques that have benefits not just for your current HW or a project, but many everyday things we do. Yes -- I'll teach the concepts and the textbook way, but I might have a trick or two up my sleeve that may help solve a similar.. but a more complex problem.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Career Development

I have a wide range of career experiences - from Marketing to Software Development, from GPU testing to Project Management. At a very young age, I've managed to make the most out of my internships and professional work experiences. I've held several career and resume related sessions at RIT to help students. I also do a lot of recruiting while at my job as a Software Developer. Therefore, I have a good level of understanding on what the companies are looking for in their candidates.

Computer Engineering

I studied Computer Engineering Technology for my undergraduate degree at Rochester Institute of Technology. I also have several years of work experience in both Software and Hardware fields. While at RIT, I also tutored for Electronics, Calculus and Programming courses.

Computer Programming

I have a BS degree in Computer Engineering Technology and a MS degree in Computer Science.

I currently work as a Software Developer for an insurance company and programming is something that is the core part of my job.

Languages I am most proficient in includes: Java, JSP, C++
Web technologies include: HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, and more recently -- AngularJS and bootstrap

Computer Science

I studied Computer Engineering Technology for my undergraduate degree at Rochester Institute of Technology and Computer Science for my graduate degree at Boston University. I also have several years of work experience in both Software and Hardware fields. I am currently working as a Developer and continue to expand my skills in the field of Computer Science.

Dreamweaver

I have used Dreamweaver for building websites both at school as well as at work. I have also used it to organize web projects and sync them with hosting service using FTP. I enjoy the Preview feature within Dreamweaver--it allows you to see your progress quickly without having to open your web pages in the browser. Writing CSS is also a pleasant experience because of the in-built styling features that Dreamweaver offers.

HTML

I have 10+ years of experience in Web Design. It's been a personal hobby and also a career. My experience with web technologies include - HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, AJAX, SQL, jQuery, Bootstrap, responsive design, and more!

JavaScript

I use JavaScript for a lot of my web projects. I've also used several JavaScript plugins to enhance my blog. My recent mobile web project at work also included work that was done in JavaScript along with jQuery mobile.

Microsoft Project

As a Software project lead at work - I am familiar with the project management principles and regularly apply them on my projects. I use Microsoft Project for tracking resource allocation, budget, and timeline. I also prepare several reports, including gantt chart views, for presenting project statuses.

Web Design

I have 10+ years of experience in Web Design. It's been a personal hobby and also a career. My experience with web technologies include - HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, AJAX, SQL, jQuery, Bootstrap, responsive design, and more!

My personal web-page which is based on WordPress, but a lot of customization was done using HTML, JavaScript and CSS to personalize it.

Highly recommend! — I am a beginner in programming and I was having trouble with translating English into java code. Harsh guided me step-by-step through each line of code that had to be done for my assignment. He was very knowledgeable and provided very helpful comments. He was also very prepared for the lesson and he even gave me handouts with more information on the material. I felt much more at ease after getting ...
