About Amanda

I am a certified special education teacher with a Masters of Education in Special Education from Framingham State University. I currently teach 7th grade special education in a competitive school district with high academic rigor. I have experience with learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, and Autism. I pride myself on my creativity and flexibility in tackling the puzzle of each student's learning style and success. I often seek out new ways to teach students academic content and reinforce their classroom learning. This may include review of concepts and study skills practice. Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I have worked in special education for 5 years with children who have ADD/ADHD. I have experience with ages 5-14. I am also enrolled in a Masters in Special Education program and am familiar with accommodations for this disability.

Autism

I am a certified special education teacher at a middle school. I currently support multiple students on the Autism Spectrum. Additionally, I have worked with them in a social capacity at a summer camp.

Social Studies

I have spent seven years supporting middle school history classes. This has included assisting within the classroom and observing each day's lesson, as well as, reteaching the concepts to individual students. I have experience with Ancient Civilizations, World Religions, and Europe.
