Fitchburg State University (Film and Television)
I began studying film and television production at the ripe old age of 6. I also began creative writing in 3rd grade and in 1983 hit pay dirt when I was introduced to my high school television studio. Upon graduation in ‘87, I began working at my local public access station. There I taught community members all aspects of the art that is Video Production. From Producing, directing on location shoots, directing in studio shows, recording audio and editing to location scouting, lighting and marketing. These workshops filled up within hours of being posted. To this day, I am still being sought out for advice and mentoring up can coming talent in the video production industry.
I left the public access station and started imageMATTE a web design and multimedia company. From there I started editing for New England Cable News (NECN). I worked with the top talent in Boston and quickly became a part of the short list of editors producers and talent could rely on. In 2007 I made the switch from broadcast to corporate video. This new position was with a start up producing video for the top pharmaceutical companies in the country. I was faced with hiring over 20 freelance editors, managing the production of videos and creating new templates for the editors to work from.
In 2013 I began freelancing for Producers in Los Angeles, CA. What was scheduled as a fifteen minute conversation turned into a two hour conversation and one quick little project. When that project was delivered, I solidified myself as the go to editor for their company.
It may have been just a little gig editing one minute videos for an auction web site. But, the more I talked with the principals the more they wanted to work with me. Since that initial project they have sent me out to Anaheim, CA, Independence, OH, Boston, MA, Las Vegas, NV and most recently Temecula, CA. Producing, directing, editing and advising on these shoots along with them and their clients.
In mid 2014 I separated from the creative agency and in January 2015 began to consider going out on my own once again. In July 2015 DiGregorio officially began DiGregorio Productions. In the months since, I have been asked to mentor a few individuals. I am happy to do so. I believe that helping students get a firm understanding of this field and truly realize their passion is essential. Coming up, and even today, I have a strong support system and I think it is important for anyone coming into the field to have the same support.
I began my career in public access where I produced 5 monthly shows, trained the community with 15 different video production workshops, directed live in-studio programs, produced and directed a parade, produced over 30 on location programs.
With imageMATTE I produced cable ads for clients, bought air time on the Comcast networks and managed the commercial campaigns.
With NECN, I edited live television news, edited anchor & reporter packages, took in feeds from bureaus across the country, advised and trained new and existing editors on proper editing techniques and equipment.
Within the creative agency I produced, shot, directed, edited, color corrected and authored DVDs for programs designed for the top pharmaceutical companies in the country. Over 7-years experience producing video with high level executives on demanding timelines. In addition, I was managing the staff of 20+ editors.
Now, I am working with my LA team where I consult on the concepts of a project, consult on the production, shoot, direct, edit, manage client expectations, manage the production schedule and budget, as well as, develop motion graphics and animations.
Being in the video production industry for over 3-decades I have a wealth of knowledge that spans from shooting and editing 16mm film to shooting with today's digital film & DSLR cameras. It's rewarding for me to help those that need a deeper understanding of the field.
I loved teaching the community back in the day. Today, I am mentoring a student who happens to be the daughter of one of my clients. I've had her involved with every aspect of the project I am producing for this client. It has been a great experience for both of us.
I am excited to tutor students in the art of video production. I welcome anyone interested to contact me to learn more about me and my experience or to schedule a lesson. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been working professionally in video production for 3-decades. I have done most every job within the industry for the small mom & pop companies to Fortune 500 companies. Even dealt with Disney & Savoy Pictures.
Throughout my career I have always consulted, educated and mentored folks. To some this may have been a burden, to me it was thrilling. I have always enjoyed teaching those interested in video the in's and out's of the industry.
