I have a B.Sc. in General Studies, which consists of ninety credits in business and economics, as well as industrial arts. I taught high school for nine years and took a sabbatical (partially out of need for a break, partially for lack of work) in 2010-11, and am looking to re-enter education in some capacity. I am willing to tutor junior/senior high school and college.
My main interests from my educational background are economics, management and marketing.
I also have a strong interest in history, and have acquired a vast knowledge of it through informal education.
Seeking new challenges and some career re-direction, I went back to college and obtained training to be a paralegal. This has given me the background necessary to help tutor undergraduate law classes.
I generally work with my clients by using a part of the first meeting, in addition to pre-session phone conversation, to fully assess their needs and work out a schedule. I work at the student's pace and will help them as much as possible to understand their material and become self-sufficient in their needs. Even after that, I will remain available for consultation and assistance as needed.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have twenty-one credits of undergraduate business, plus another twenty-four credits in economics. I have written award-winning business plans and have worked as grant writer, and interned in a student-run consulting firm, helping small businesses market and manage their enterprises better.
I am familiar with most phases of management, possess a solid understanding of basic marketing concepts, and can also help with advertising and other general business classes.
I taught career education at a local high school, and through my own experiences, have learned a great deal about career paths, resume and cover-letter writing, and helping people find their own direction, hopefully leading to a satisfying career.
I can also help with basic writing skills and other basic employment skills.
I used to teach economics in high school. I have a specialization in macroeconomics, industrial economics, money & banking, consumer economics, and I have made a special study of Austrian economics...the better to dazzle your friends and return the confusion your most likely Keynesian professors and teachers have tried to shove off on you!
Economics is a great love of mine, and I love to help people understand how it works.
I have been a member of fraternal organizations (DeMolay, Masons, and Odd Fellows) for nearly twenty years, and have gained a great deal of experience making presentations through the degrees and other ceremonies in the orders.
I also have been appointed the spokesman for different groups, acted as an attorney for mock trials in college, and have nearly a decade of teaching experience.
