About Gregory

I am a university professor who available for private tutoring in social studies and/or Chinese language. I have had professional training in anthropology, sociology, history, political science, and cultural studies. And I have near-native fluency in Chinese (Mandarin), with more than 10 years experience living in China since the early 1980s. I also have 20 years experience in teaching, curriculum development, and program administration at the university level, with several awards for teaching excellence.

And I have previous experience tutoring elementary through post-graduate level ESL in Taiwan, and teaching junior and senior high school English at an international school in Greece. I also have extensive experience working with and advising undergraduate college students.

I speak, read, and write Chinese (traditional and simplified characters) with near native fluency. I have lived in China off and on for over ten years, since the early 1980s, and have taught Chinese culture and history at the college level for more than twenty years.

I have experience teaching ESL in Taiwan to students of all ages and at all levels of instruction (from elementary and Pre-K children to high school and college students to business professionals). I have extensive experience in public speaking, and am a published author who has taught writing at the university level.

Please feel free to contact me to discuss your interests and needs. As a dedicated education professional, I hope to facilitate your success, whatever your career goals may be!

For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
