I am a French native from Provence in France. Learning has always been a passion for me, which led me to complete a master's degree and then a PhD in the United States. I taught at the college level for several years while I was in graduate school. In 2002, I was awarded the "Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award" for my dedication to high quality teaching and for the study method I developed for my students. I am also a writer. I published several books in France, and I have translated books from French to English and from English to French.
I specialize in tutoring French at all levels. I enjoy greatly teaching middle school and high school students to help them become proficient in the French language and my very interactive approach to teaching is very appreciated and yields excellent results. I also love teaching adults who are either beginners or more advanced in their knowledge of French. Some of them are interested in conversational French while others are eager to learn more about French literature and writing skills.
I also specialize in tutoring organizational and study skills for students of all ages. My teaching experience at the college level has taught me that many college students lack appropriate organizational and study skills, which often has serious repercussions on their academic success. I thus developed a study method for high school students to help them acquire those essential skills they need throughout school, college and even beyond.
I am happy to offer a free consultation meeting to all my prospective students so they can explain to me how I can best meet their needs and expectations. I understand that we all have busy lives and that unexpected events can interfere with a tutoring session therefore, while I do have a 24-hour cancellation policy, I offer make-up classes.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you either in French or in acquiring great organizational and study skills. I am a French native from Provence in France. Violaine worked out very well for me. She was knowledgeable, flexible, and had a supportive style. She always responded quickly to emails or phone calls. She was amenable to my agenda. I totally enjoyed working with her and highly recommend her. I am a teacher by profession also.
Violaine is so intuitive that she can easily meet you exactly where you need to learn. She truly enjoys people and it shows. She offers structure or will follow the student's lead. It's like meeting someone for coffee in the South of France.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have a Ph.D. in psychology and taught college courses for three years during my years as a graduate student. I was awarded the "Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award" by Georgia State University (Atlanta) in 2002. This award was given to me, in part, for developing a study method that helped my students acquire excellent organizational and study skills that allowed them to excel in their classes and for some of them to keep their "Hope Scholarship" by raising significantly their grades and GPA.
