One of the things I am most passionate about is sharing cool scientific concepts. When I was a kid, I remember racing through the house to show my parents something interesting I’d found in my microscope or telescope. That part of me hasn't changed. I like making tutoring as fun and exciting as possible! I believe you can have a fun time learning anything and approach it seriously with distinctive goals in mind.
I've been told that I'm great at breaking down and explaining difficult scientific concepts through analogy and example. I'm great with all ages too! I've tutored on my own for five years, and I am currently a tutor and mentor through the University Student Support Services, which helps retain and graduate first-generation and low-income college students.
I look forward to working with you. Hello!

Nate is a great tutor, my daughter has been working with him for a few weeks and her confidence has improved already. She is extremely comfortable with him and able to ask all her questions- and he patiently walks her through the material. He is technically very strong with exceptional soft skills. So happy we found him!
Nathan was always very helpful with any topic I needed help with. He helped me understand concepts I was having difficulty with and broke things down in understandable ways. He always would confirm with me to make sure I was following him and would reword his explanations of concepts if I was still unsure. He also was very available if I ever had any questions outside of a session I could message him for some answers. My grade in Biochemistry improved significantly since tutoring with Nathan.
Nate was great at explaining things to my son! My son has struggled with Chemistry , all year long and he said Nate has a way of breaking it down for him. He was super helpful and we look forward to working with him again next week!
Nathan has done excellent work with my son. He is very descriptive with his teaching and again with his correcting of my son's errors. I notice he is gaining confidence with the subject and it is due to Nathan's assistance.
I recommend him highly.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Biochemistry is my favorite subject! I currently teach and tutor biochemistry the most, and I can help you understand/analyze high school/college subjects like lipids, nucleic acids, glycolysis, the citric acid cycle, oxidative phosphorylation and photosynthesis, or more diverse areas. I'm an completely open book here!
I have tutored Chemistry for 3 years at both the University of Massachusetts and the University of Connecticut. In addition, my undergraduate and graduate degrees both required advanced courses in general, organic, and physical chemistry. I was also given an award to present my undergraduate chemistry thesis research by the American Society for Microbiology.
I am a current PhD student in the Molecular and Cellular Biology program at the University of Connecticut. I use Genetics in my daily laboratory work, and I took Genetics as a course in my undergraduate career. I have previously tutored Genetics.
My undergraduate degree in Biochemistry included a thesis in computational organic chemistry, and it was my strongest expertise in my undergraduate degree. I also took several courses in organic chemistry, including Advanced Organic Chemistry, in which an obtained an A.
