About Anne

Hello, my name is Anne and I have been teaching, coaching, and tutoring for many years to people from across the globe.

Fortunately, my students tell me that they love their sessions because they get to talk a lot and they have much more confidence to speak English when they are at work, school or just shopping.

For the past year, I have taught English to students from over thirty countries. As a former teacher of French and Spanish, I understand how difficult it is to learn a new language – especially English. I have also worked in countries where I didn’t understand what people were saying and felt confused and powerless. I want my students to feel confident and powerful!

My goal is to help you learn English so that you can speak with confidence and know how to live in this country easily. I also want you to be able to find the resources you need to be comfortable and successful in school, your jobs and careers and your life.

Besides teaching, I have also been a career coach and author and have led workshops around the country. Much of my background is in technology companies where I managed international programs, and hired employees.

Speaking English is the best way to learn to speak with confidence. And I help you do that through conversation, helping you learn and understand English pronunciation and grammar that you may not know.

If you are new to the US, I also help you find the resources you need to feel comfortable, successful and safe in this country, your city and state. It is also important to understand American cultural differences and customs; your rights as an immigrant or new American - both federal and local. Many Americans don't know these either. If you are studying for the TOESL, I am there to help you, step-by-step.

I have a Bachelor’s in Art degree in French, Spanish, English and Education from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst; and am certified to teach English Literacy in Massachusetts.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Public Speaking

As author of a best-selling book on choosing and/or changing careers, I have spoken to and led seminars for groups ranging from 8 to 400 across the country.

I have also designed and led workshops on the best way to engage adults in continuing to come to class after the first few sessions.

I credit my former classroom teaching, as well as acting experience when I was young, with giving me the tools and confidence to connect and speak comfortably with groups.
