Hi, I'm Hannah! I graduated from Penn State with Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and International Politics. Through several learning opportunities and job experiences, I realized that I did not want to leave the classroom. I completed my Master of Education at Curry College. I am now a special education teacher at an elementary school located just north of Boston. Over the past five years, I have worked with students of all grades K-5 in the general education classroom, the pull-out setting, and virtually. I have been tutoring (in-person and virtually) for the past four years in reading, writing, and math.
I am an Orton-Gillingham (OG) certified teacher by IMSE. As such, I apply this instructional approach to teach explicit, direct, systematic, sequential, and multi-sensory reading as part of structured literacy. Reading lessons focus on phonological awareness, encoding, decoding, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. I am also RAVE-O trained. This evidenced-based instruction builds fluency and comprehension skills in struggling readers.
