Hi! My name is Bella. I'm a native speaker of Chinese and a second language speaker of English (22 years) and Spanish (5 years). Last year I moved with husband to his home place Lexington, MA. I had made great progress so far in settling down in a new place including tutoring temporarily about one semester to a high schooler from Lexington High School.
I love languages! In 2010 I went to Madrid to study a Master degree in Spanish. During the two years in Spain I worked as a freelance tutor providing private tailored Chinese classes to the students at different language levels. Before each new course started I listened to the students expectations and goals. This is essential to both sides to gain a better understanding and preparation towards the tutoring. To encourage the students to be more interactive and engaged the class location was not limited to the same desk and chair. In my class we could always do it as creative as possible. It could be going to the zoo or visiting a hospital, discussing a dumpling recipe or business contract. I hope to instill not only the proper pronunciation but also deeper understanding of Chinese culture and its language nuances.
My methods of teaching Mandarin come from 20 years of personally learning two second languages and include:
- Simple and fast techniques that can not be found in a text book
- Practical practice lessons that help you to use what you have learned in class
- Teaching a love for the Chinese language to encourage the motivation it requires to become proficient.
My personal story tells me if you decide to learn a second language, learn it well or never start. If you think I'm good fit for your language tutoring need, please leave no hesitation to contact me here! Hi! My name is Bella. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I started to learn English when I was 6 and learnt Spanish in my sophomore year in College. During the learning experience, I found between two languages there could be lots of connections and similarities that would help the learner eliminate the mental fear toward a foreign language. I taught Mandarin to non-mandarin speakers since 2010 when I studied in Spain as my part time job. I provided private tailored Chinese classes to the students at different language levels. Before each new course started, I listened to the students expectations and goals and planned out lessons catered to the students. My methods of teaching Mandarin come from 20 years of personally learning foreign languages and include:
-Simple and fast technique that can not be found in a text book.
-Practical practice lessons that help students use what they have learned in class in school.
-Teaching a love for the Chinese language to encourage the motivation it requires to become proficient.
