About Stacy

I am a certified Special Education teacher and have been tutoring students in all subjects and level of needs since 2003. I have worked with children ages 3 to 17, and have enjoyed it immensely! I am a very creative person, and I feel strongly that all learners are different. Having a "bag of tricks" is what makes me unique. Finding creative ways to help students learn is what has made me successful! I have taught children that are diagnosed with learning disabilities, psychological/emotional difficulties, and children with autism spectrum disorders. I work closely with parents and teachers to ensure that their child's learning needs are being met! I look forward to working with you and your children!
Math, Reading, Grammar, and History are my strongest subjects. I have tutored many children in these subjects with great success! I have experience utilizing various reading and math programs such as Wilson Reading, and manipulative based math. I have lesson plans that I have created, but I find that tailoring a lesson to your child's needs works best. I also have tutored for the MCAS test and have workbooks and practice tests available. I hope you find my experience and style suitable for your child's needs!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Autism

I have been teaching students with Autism since the year 2000. I also have taken ABA classes through the New England Center for Children and many professional development trains through my employers. I have worked with students diagnosed with Autism for age 3 to 22.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am special Ed certified in Pre-k through 8th grade and have taught elementary math for 10 years. I also have taken a manipulative based graduate level math class. I am very confident in this subject area. I have helped many students succeed in math using various programs such as everyday math. I have attended Massachusetts workshops on teaching math to elementary students. I also have tutored children in 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade in math and for the MCAS math tests.

Special Needs

I am a certified special education teacher for moderate disabilities in grades pre-k through 8th grade. I have taught all subjects to students with various special needs including but not limited to ADHD, autism, dyslexia, anxiety disorders, and learning disabilities.
