Bio

I received a B.A. in applied math from Rice University in 2015. I taught high school math in Houston as part of the Teach For America program for two years after graduating college. I taught Pre-Calculus and AP Calculus AB. The scores of my Pre-Calculus students were consistently among the highest in the district.

I taught Pre-Calculus and AP Calculus AB. The scores of my Pre-Calculus students were consistently among the highest in the district.

Before teaching, I had tutored for three years in college (all except my freshman year) as a volunteer tutor for underclassmen math courses and as a job tutoring high-school students.
I am currently working as a data analyst at a hospital in Boston.

I have always loved math, and I especially enjoy helping people understand math. I enjoy tutoring because of the specialized instruction I can give students and because of the relationship I can build with students. I aim to help students deeply understand why the material they are learning makes sense. When tutoring, I try to have the student talking and explaining things more than I am in order to make sure they truly understand.

I have scored a 5 on the AP Calc BC test, a 36 on the ACT math section (the highest score), and a 170 (the highest score) on the GRE quant section (as well as on the verbal section, though I am not interested in tutoring that section).

Math courses I have taken: AP Calculus BC, multi variable calculus/calc III, differential equations, linear algebra, numerical analysis, partial differential equations, real analysis, number theory, probability and statistics, statistical inference.

If you are a high school or college student looking to improve grades and enjoy the fun of mathematics, contact me for more information.

I was an applied math major in college and during that time I took 3 statistics classes. I am currently a bio statistician/data analyst at a hospital in Boston. Also, I taught high school math (pre-calculus and AP Calculus) for two years.
Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

In college I took differential equations (A), partial differential equations (A) along with my other math courses. As a senior, I tutored underclassmen in differential equations and applied mathematics. I taught high school math, including AP Calculus AB, for two years.
Linear Algebra,

Linear Algebra

As part of my applied mathematics major, I took linear algebra. Linear algebra is the center point of most applied mathematics, so I became very familiar with linear algebra and its applications. As well, I experience teaching Pre-Calculus and AP Calculus AB at the high school level.

Awesome tutor!!!

Our son had a rough start in AP Calculus AB and was getting a D midway through his first quarter. We were so fortunate to find Nick - he has been an absolutely AMAZING tutor. Our son really enjoys the sessions he has with Nick and has started to actually like calculus. He was able to get A's and A-'s on his last assignments for the quarter and was able to finish the quarter with a high C. So far during his second quarter, his average is in the B+/A- range. Our son has his confidence in math back, and we couldn't be happier!
