I have used all of the software listed above for at least 6 years both professionally and academically. Highlights are included from each program. Many of the programs work in tandem with one another, which often leads to the best results and highest quality images.
I'm a recent graduate of the Boston Architectural College with a Bachelor's of Architecture degree. I am currently employed in a design build architecture firm in the South End of Boston. I've taught all the above listed software to students at the BAC, as well as members of my firm. Additionally, I have numerous resources that students can use after tutoring sessions are done. My daughter was trying to assemble a professional looking portfolio for her undergraduate architecture school applications. Steven was able to help her with all aspects of the process, from selection and critique of artwork to layout using Adobe InDesign. He even was able to advise her on printing and binding options. He is an outstanding resource and is knowledgeable, dependable and highly skilled. He is extremely patient and has a great way with kids. I'm so thankful that my daughter was able to work with him. I would highly recommend Steven.
Steven has been the ideal tutor for our son. He is incredibly knowledgeable about architecture and really adept at teaching. He knows just how to build our son's confidence while giving feedback that is realistic and objective. He has consistently come to appointments on time and generously made himself available to our son through text message exchanges. We feel so grateful to have found Steve.
I met with Steven to review Revit. He was very knowledgeable and kind. He spoke at a pace that was easy to understand and follow along. He was very patient when I asked questions, and we covered all of the topics that I was interested in. I highly recommend Steven as a tutor.
My son wanted to learn AutoCAD, and Steven helped him identify what he would use it for, and explained clearly two useful programs AutoCAD and Rhino. His explanation immediately made sense to my son, and Steven clearly knows and has worked closely with the programs and their uses. Steven then carefully and patiently and in a very encouraging manner guided my son through the beginning steps of these programs, and they focused and worked together for over an hour and a half. As any great teacher does, he encouraged my son to go ahead and try these programs on his own, learning-by-doing and trial-and-error so to speak, to get practice before their next lesson together. My son learned a lot and is excited about going forward in his learning. I am impressed with how Steven connected with my son's interests and then supported him in those very hard beginner stages. Thank you Steven!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have used InDesign in both my academic and professional career for the past 7 years. Academically, I have used InDesign to create architectural layout boards, portfolio books, and flyers for school events. Professionally, I use it for company marketing material, business cards, and letters we send out to clients.
I recently graduated from the BAC in May of 2014 with a Bachelor's of Architecture degree, and have been working in an office for the past 14 months. I have worked in other areas related to the field for the past 3 years, as well as partaken in professional while enrolled in school. I regularly visit architectural websites and read magazines to keep on the latest trends and designs in the industry.
I have been using AutoCAD since high school, and use it on an almost daily basis at work. Details, plans, sections, and elevations are all drawings that I've completed using AutoCAD. Dim styles, text styles, page setups, title blocks, block editing, and attributes are a few of the additional features that I'm well versed in with AutoCAD.
I have used Adobe Illustrator for the past 4 years for both academic and professional work. I also use it in my spare time for graphic design, tweaking logos coming up with new ideas for friends and co workers. Live paint, live trace, and creating outlines from text are a few features that allow me to create diversified logos.
I use Microsoft Windows on a daily basis, specifically XP in the office and 7 at home. I've been using Windows since I was a teenager, and know all the features there in.
I've taken numerous public speaking courses at the Boston Architectural College and made many more presentations in front of various sized crowds. I've spoken in groups as small as 4 and as large as 100. I've made academic presentations to critics of my work and professional presentations to prospective clients, advisory boards, and regulators. I've sat as a critic on numerous presentations and public speeches, providing feedback to students and peers alike. My ability to project my voice, maintain eye contact, and speak about the project without looking back to visual aids make me a great tutor and coach for public speaking.
I've used Revit throughout my academic career to model different types of structures. I've created 3-D rendered perspective sections, details, sections, and plans. I've also created families that I use on a variety of projects.
