Hello! My name is Henri and I hold a PhD in Epidemiology and an MSPH in International Health from Johns Hopkins University, and a bachelor's degree from Harvard University. I currently am a post-doctoral researcher at Harvard University, where I use biostatistics for public health and statistical genetics daily in my research. I primarily work in R, as well as Stata, SAS, SQL, and Python. I have experience as a tutor, teaching assistant, and the instructor of record for courses at multiple levels, and have been for the last 6 years. I have also taught graduate-level statistics and math courses, health sciences and epidemiology courses, and genetics courses. I also have taught undergraduate-level public health courses. I have worked one-on-one, with groups of students, and with leading large lecture style courses of 200+ students.

My overall tutoring and teaching style is to be supportive and do my best to help students relate concepts to their prior knowledge and understandings. If I encounter that tell-tale awkward silence when there's a clear gap in knowledge, I love taking the time to drill down with a student to find the disconnect. My favorite question is "what is your first thought process?" to get the ball rolling and meet students where they're at, whether the question seems simple or complex.

I also know that so much of learning is being organized and confident in how you approach a problem, and I'm happy to provide general academic coaching for how to tackle tests, new assignments, new semesters, etc. I pride myself in responding promptly to student concerns and am excited to connect. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions!

Data Science

I have taken data science courses throughout graduate school, and currently work as a post-doctoral researcher using cluster computing for big data spanning 1 million+ datapoints on 10,000+ individuals in public health cohorts. I create pipelines for harmonizing across collection sites, completing quality control protocols, and analyze the data using robust statistical methods for presentations and academic publications.

Reviews

Knowledgeable and flexible

Henri was knowledgeable and patient with me. He taught me about R script including how to run my data for my dissertation. There was miscommunication about when we were going to meet due to the time change, and Henri was really understanding and flexible. He also offered to meet again if I needed more tutoring.

Patient and Helpful With Complex Material

Henri has so far helped me to understand the processes better, helped to troubleshoot where I had questions, and helped me feel more confident in what I know moving forward.

Extremely Patient and Knowledgeable!

Henri and I have spent several sessions together reviewing R Studio from a public health perspective. I have embarrassing low knowledge in this area and Henri has shown me so much patience and understanding in our sessions. I highly recommend him!

Knowledgable, Patient, and Friendly

Henri helped me complete my assignment on R studio in a short amount of time. He explained step by step what I was actually coding and was really patient. I will definitely schedule another lesson with Henri when I need more help with R.
