In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am an English Language Arts Teacher/Theater Director, where I wrote new curriculum for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English Language Arts. I also created lesson plans for units in American Literature, Shakespeare, epic poetry, and
classic texts from world literature.
I obtained a Bachelor's degree in theater from New York University's Tisch School of Drama and worked as a professional actress before becoming a teacher. I have taught public speaking, debate, and theater classes for all ages including children and adults. I continue to direct student productions and teach a Shakespeare Workshop for middle school students.
