A professionally licensed teacher with emphasis on art and literature, I have taught K-12 art, reading, Senior Literature, and mentored students in elementary through 8th grade English, social studies, math and science. Having successfully tutored for math and reading intervention, including students with special needs and emotional challenges, students considered "twice exceptional" or "gifted and talented," I appeal to individual and differentiated learning styles, integrating right and left brain hemispheres through creative problem solving. I bring my own life experience overcoming learning challenges with a patient approach to situations and introduce fun into the learning process. Since many students find formal education difficult, I try to lighten the learning atmosphere to reduce tension, allowing student and tutor to refocus on overcoming obstacles. It is a delight to see students overcome foggy thinking to tackle learning subjects they once thought difficult and to take steps to own learning for themselves. Before teaching I gained real world experience in marketing communications as a graphic designer for print and web publication, involving editorial and proofing responsibility. I am available to tutor children and adult learners in English and Greek-Latin roots, grammar, spelling, writing, and literature. I offer art instruction classes and can provide instruction for basic website layout, computer graphics and photo editing. Contact me and I will be happy to discuss how I might be able to help you in your situation.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
