Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I was a math major at Cornell and I have a master's degree from MIT. My score on the math SAT was 796 out of 800. I have tutored a great many children in math, and I believe in looking for the best way to explain a concept to each individual student. This is particularly important in algebra, which can be confusing to a lot of students.
Geometry,

Geometry

I was a math major at Cornell and I have a master's degree from MIT. I've tutored many geometry students in the past year and they have all rated me highly. I scored 796 out of 800 on the math SAT, and I try to find the right method to communicate difficult concepts to each student, depending on his/her particular ability.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

I was a math major at Cornell and I scored 796 on the math SAT. I approach SAT as the game that it is -- a contest between the test-maker and the test-taker. Multiple-choice questions are very different from open-ended ones, and require a different approach. I've helped many students achieve high scores. I concentrate on the material that most often appears on the test. I teach strategy, from the right way to structure the essay to the best way to approach multiple-choice questions, and all the little tricks in between.

Math

ACT Math,

ACT Math

I was a math major at Cornell, and my experience as a consultant to a game company added to my expertise in taking tests like ACT, which is essentially a game. I can pass on the techniques of answering multiple-choice questions to students who often neglect this factor. Of course, there's nothing that beats knowing the material, and that is the primary focus, but the actual test is a unique experience which the student needs to prepare for in its entirety.

Fantastic SAT Tutor!

My sons SAT score went up 180 points after just 5 lessons with Jon! Amazing! He has been working regularly with John and plans to take the SAT again in March. My son really likes his teaching style and said he explains things very well. We’ve had some tutors that haven’t measured up to expectations. Jon however far exceeds our expectations- He’s the best!

outstanding tutor

Jon P was awesome for my girls !! He was patient and kind and started with the basic questions to ensure a perfect starting point ! I was worried about online tutoring but those worries left the minute he started with my girls . I can’t say how thankful I am that we found Jon P , you are a God send . We will be using him all the way up to the SAT to ensure great scores for our daughters

Test prep master!

Math nuts and bolts for the SAT - feeling like my kid is getting great prep!!! She likes the breaking down of all aspects of a question or section. She is getting so much out of these sessions that she doesn’t even complain about doing them!

Great first lesson

My son was able to identify some fundamental math knowledge gaps that needed to be addressed. I am pleased. Jon was very accommodating of our schedule as well. We plan to schedule more sessions.

Extremely thorough and very helpful

Hi, Both my kids were very impressed with Jon's test prep techniques. He was patient, knowledgeable, through and made sure to assess each kid individually for strengths and weaknesses even though he was working with both them in the same sessions. His questions helped them understand their weaknesses which is great because now they can work on it well in advance of taking the exam. Thank you Jon!

Fantastic Tutor

My son has gotten a great deal out of his SAT tutoring lessons with Jon..aka Coach. He’s a very patient tutor and explains things very well. My son previously finished a well known SAT course that he did not find helpful. His lessons with Jon however focus on content and strategy which has been fantastic. He just took the SAT yesterday for the second time and he said he felt much better about it this time thanks to his lessons with Jon. We will definitely continue working with Jon- he’s a gem!
